The Head Start Family Center, 233 Leadley Avenue, East Peoria is located in the old Washington Grade School. In 1998 the building, which had been closed for over 20 years, was purchased from East Peoria District #86. With a lot of community support and various state and federal grants, the building was renovated to house the Head Start Administrative Offices, 6 classrooms, and an Illinois Central College GED classroom. Currently the Family Center serves 120 children living in East Peoria, Creve Coeur, Washington, and Morton.

Through supportive teamwork and honest, open and effective communication we will empower parents to become positive role models for their children.

The mission of Tazewell Woodford Head Start is to create a sense of self- worth in children and parents, to provide resources and support to strengthen the family unit, to empower them to achieve their full potential, and to serve as an advocate within the community.
